A comprehensive assessment and testing process can rid the recruitment process of any bias that may hinder the impartiality of hiring.
Speaking at the London HR Connection event ‘What does it take to get a Dragon on board?’, Dupsy Abiola, a successful Dragon’s Den applicant and Founder and CEO of Intern Avenue, spoke about nepotism and other issues facing organisations when hiring interns.
“There are multiple layers to the problem,” Abiola said, “Firstly, hiring people who aren’t a decent fit, just so they can mark something off on their CVs that they may not even be passionate about, can demoralise the rest of the team – ‘this guy is someone’s cousin so we can’t treat them like a normal employee or team member’.
“Secondly, they won’t be motivated either. When there’s a clear process, most of this falls away.
