As generosity goes, it seems one business leader has found the golden ticket.
Shlomo Rechnitz, owner of Park Avenue Healthcare and Wellness Centre in California, bought all of his residents and his employees a lotto ticket, amounting to a huge 18,000 tickets in total.
Rechnitz is an American businessman and philanthropist, and owner of Brius Healthcare Services, the largest nursing home provider in California. In a show of appreciation for his staff, Rechnitz purchased thousands of Powerball tickets, hoping that one of his employees or his clients would win a share of the $1.5billion jackpot. He divided the tickets between his 80 nursing homes.
In some much publicised confusion, one nurse was thought to have won the prize pot. However, it transpired that her son was playing a cruel prank on her. A 62 year-old nurse from Pomona was called at work by her son, who told her to check her ticket.
