73% of workers only leave desk for bathroom or to make tea

“Shocking” new research reveals the need to encourage employees to exercise more.

A new study from the audio communications company Plantronics reveals that 73% of British employees only leave their desks in order to make a cup of tea or to go to the bathroom.

2,000 UK office workers were surveyed for the study. 68% said that they felt like sitting at their desk all day may be having a detrimental effect on either their physical or emotional health, or both.

However, that didn’t stop 53% of office workers from staying at their desks for hours on end because they claimed they were too busy to move. 22% said that they couldn’t move away from their desks because they needed to be close to their phones. 42% said that they ate their lunch at their desks, while nine per cent admitted to never having lunch at all.
