Selfridges' Group HR Director, Lynne Weedall, says “be selfish and create time”

HR executives need to become more selfish about finding time and space for themselves, according to Selfridges Group HR Director.

Speaking to HR Grapevine, Lynne Weedall says: “When I look at very senior leaders, they all make space, that’s the thing that really sets them apart.

“They always have great space and time in their diaries to meet people, to breathe, to look around corners. And I think that is really important.”

Weedall, who will be speaking at HR Grapevine’s annual HR & Talent Management Conference, also reveals her belief that a coach, or mentor, is an absolute must for everyone. She says: “Throughout my entire career I have always had a coach or mentor. I value having someone independent and that I can trust, although I recognise it’s not for everyone.
