Why you're losing 34 nights of sleep a year due to work stress

Over a third of business decision makers lose sleep over their work, with the average ‘insomniac’ missing out on 34 night’s sleep a year.

According to a survey conducted by Heathrow Express, the average leader loses 5.27 hours of sleep each week. The most commonly listed reason for a lack of slumber was the economy, followed by the ever-rising costs of overheads. The full list can be seen at the bottom of the article.

Finding qualified staff was listed as the third most common cause. Last month a study by SilkRoad, this time focused on senior HR professionals, came to similar conclusions.

The study explained why this may be: “Respondents say they are most concerned about linking the success of new hires to the L&D of the employee and understanding how that process can be measured in performance management.”
