Twitter has come under fire after hiring Apple’s Head of Diversity.
Jeffrey Siminoff, who is gay, will replace Janet Van Huysse, who had spent the previous six years growing the company’s HR department as its employee headcount swelled from hundreds to thousands.
According to Twitters annual diversity report released in August 2015, women make up 34% of its overall staff worldwide. In the US, underrepresented minorities such as blacks and Hispanics make up ten per cent of the workforce.
Siminoff tweeted that he will begin this month: “Super excited to join Twitter … as VP Diversity & Inclusion, joining an incredible team to make #InclusionImpact.”
