New Year's backlash: 3 out of 4 employees suffer from back to work stress

73% of UK workers will suffer from work-related stress when they return from the holidays, according to new research.

While the Christmas season may have been a time for relaxing with family, it will have some serious consequences for employees returning to work.

That is according to new research from MetLife Employee Benefits. The research reveals that only 27% won’t feel any stress at all when they come back from the New Year’s Eve celebrations. However, this statistic is in the minority.

43% of workers stated that having to readjust after taking time off will be their biggest cause of stress, according to the research. 31% said that catching up with work backlogs will be their main cause of stress. 25% will be stressed due to the financial strains they came under due to their Christmas spending.
