A restaurant worker invoked the Christmas spirit when he handed in £21,500 he found hidden under a table.
Brian Geery was working at an Applebee’s diner in California when he discovered the cash pouch left forgotten in the café. He then showed the parcel to his manager, who suggested it may contain medicine, and told him to look inside.
“I couldn’t believe it, I’d never seen so much cash in my life before,” Geery explained to local news. “I’m a big believer in karma. I just feel like you treat others as you would want to be treated.”
Carrie Hellyer, Applebee’s Regional Director claimed that Geery declined any reward offered to him by the owners of the money, and initially even withheld his details from the media. She said: “He just said that he did it because it was the right thing to do and he didn’t want the right thing being overwhelmed by anything else.”
