Lucy Allan, Conservative MP, accused of 'viciously bullying' sick employee

Lucy Allan, Conservative MP for Telford, has been accused of “bullying” after the “vicious” abuse of employee Arianne Plumbly.  

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Plumbly said that the working relationship became toxic when she was signed off work for medical reasons. Her description of the company culture was not favourable: “It’s all about trying to beat you down. It was a nasty environment to work in.” She said she felt as if she was “left to deal with it on my own”, despite reaching out internally for help.

“There was no sympathy or anything. I don’t think they dealt with it at all. I’m really disappointed,” she continued.

According to phone calls heard by the Evening Standard, Allan allegedly called the worker “pathetic” when she was on sick leave. She also told her she had “pissed around on my life” and was an alcoholic.
