Employee training saves kitten's life

An eagle-eyed employee at a recycling plant rescued a trapped kitten from certain death.

Staff at Cal-Waste Recovery Systems in California were quick enough to spot the young cat from their posts. The day-old kitten was headed for the debris section of the conveyor belt, and toward the dangerous rotating cyclone.

In an interview with ABC news, MaryBeth Ospital, Spokesperson for the company, explained the situation: “Tony Miranda, the last employee in the line overseeing the belt, immediately picked up the bag and found a grey and black kitten among the debris.

“If Miranda hadn’t noticed the tiny, female kitten, she would have continued up the conveyor belt, and the cat would have been dropped into really fast moving blades that shuffle cardboard off and separate the rest of the materials.
