Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer faces criticism after lavish Christmas party

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has once again been embroiled in bad press after she was photographed hosting a lavish Christmas party whilst the future of her company remains uncertain.

The Great Gatsby-themed party incurred an overall cost of £5million, and included everything one might expect from such a opulent event, including a “pure white arm chair” on which Mayer sat to pose for pictures with staff.

The controversial million dollar party was well documented online, with one attendee taking to social platform Vice to note that the room was filled with chandeliers, a Rolls-Royce, and “swinging flapper aerialists pouring champagne towers.”

There were also gambling tables, for which each employee was given £350 worth of fake money with all winnings going to charity. The entertainment reportedly consisted of a burlesque troupe and a “Canadian boy/girl cover band”, according to the MailOnline.
