Robert Dyas' staff address diversity in 'perplexing', 'bonkers' and 'perfect' Christmas advert

Robert Dyas’ attempt to lace their employer brand with diversity has backfired, with certain quarters of social media bemused with their ‘diverse’ Christmas advert.

Workers at the retail company are espousing the benefits of working there, with the emphasis on openness of sexual orientation. The move to promote diversity around sexual orientation in the workplace should be welcomed, but the manner in which it has been done has confused some.

Studies this year have shown that homophobia is costing employers millions; 45% of UK employees feel comfortable disclosing their sexuality at work, while the engineering industry loses £11.2billion a year due to homophobia. In Ireland, 30% of LGBT employees are harassed at work.
