Originally based on the life of the Catholic King of Bohemia, Good King Wenceslas tells the story of a generous ruler who sets out to make Christmas special for all of his subjects. An understanding mind-set is crucial at Christmas, with employees wanting to make the most of the season through flexible hours and remote working.

Jim Verity, HR Director at Hope Construction Materials, explains: “For me, the most important thing is to empower local managers to make local decisions and allow them to be flexible. We had an example of a manager who said to one of his team that he could start work late every day on a particular week so he could take his son to school, something he'd never, ever been able to do before. The reaction was so positive. It's often the small things like this which really make a difference.”
