Retailer Dick Smith is currently investigating claims that its staff hoarded sought-after items such as iPads and MacBooks during their annual sales.
The accusations have been levied at employees working at several of the Australian stores branches, accusing employees of keeping the best electrical goods for themselves and leaving customers empty handed.
The stores launched their “fire sale” last Friday, offering up to 80% discounts on expensive stock, such as smart TVs and game consoles. However, angry customers took to social media to vent their frustration that many of the best items were reserved in the stock rooms for staff only.
One such furious customer Shanan Kan wrote on Dick Smith’s Facebook page: “What’s the best way to report staff and store managers hoarding items out back for themselves and their friends to buy? Far too many reports of this type of shady behaviour to make it worthwhile to visit a store without your assurances.”
