A day in the life of… Ben Turner, Head of Learning, Talent, & Resourcing at Well (formerly known as The Co-operative Pharmacy)

My role was newly created in July as Head of Learning, Resourcing and Talent. This means I am responsible for transforming our end-to-end learning and talent acquisition strategy, making sure our people have a seamless journey from candidate to colleague, with effective induction and on-going development. 

Well is a new business, established following the sale of the Co-op Pharmacy to The Bestway Group in late 2014.

We currently operate from 790 Pharmacy branches across the UK, as well as growing our wholesale, medical supplies, and nursing home business - our aim is to have 1,000 branches by 2018.

As a new, ambitious business there’s a lot going on; many change projects competing for resource and specialist skills, in addition to the demands of the ‘day job’ of recruiting and developing all of our colleagues in a very competitive sector.
