A day in the life of… Rob Walker, Head of Resourcing at Mencap

Beep, beep, beep. It’s 5:30am.

Before I get to work, the first thing I do is check my BlackBerry – I’m BlackBerry addicted – to see if there’s anything that’s come to light over the course of the early morning.  I’m assigned at Peterborough, so I drive in with BBC Radio Five Live as my companion, and occasionally Radio Four.

Fridays have a dedicated routine. Me and two senior team members (Louisa is my Team Manager and Sam is my Talent Acquisition Manager) discuss the week. Sam talks search and selection, Louisa discusses volume and how the team at large are dealing with that, and we all play ‘beat the agency’ to see how much we’ve saved in actual terms.

 After this, I’m usually working, leading, and developing on three major projects.
