Twitter has banned blood drives at the company’s offices worldwide in a bid to lift the ban on gay men donating blood in several countries.
The social network giant’s decision to ban blood drives comes after one of its US employees was turned down from donating blood, a Twitter spokeswoman told Reuters.
Twitter employees will not be donating blood in their offices in any countries where regulations do not allow gay or bisexual men to donate blood.
Sexually active homosexual men have been barred from donating blood in many countries since the discovery that HIV can be transmitted through blood transfusions.
