15% of companies will adapt to National Living Wage with slower recruitment

Over half of employers have said that the National Living Wage (NLW) will have an effect on their wage bill, but the methods of adapting to this are varied.

A survey by the CIPD and the Resolution Foundation (RF) found that 15% of companies intend to adapt to the increased cost by reducing the number of employees through redundancies or slower recruitment.

Nine per cent will adjust by recruiting more workers under the age of 25, and eight per cent will take on more apprentices.  

Just under a third intend cope by improving efficiency and productivity.
