Long-term remote workers fear getting fat

32% of UK business professionals fear getting fat when working from home, according to new research from Regus.

However, with 45% of UK employees now located outside the office for more than a week, the concern is increasing. Health and wellbeing should be promoted by all businesses, aided by HR; a healthy workforce is a productive workforce.

Richard Morris is the Chief Executive Offier of Regus. He told HR Grapevine that one answer is to work remotely, but not from home: “Working in an office based environment closer to home provides the ‘going to the office’ routine without the temptation of fridge or larder! There are other clear benefits too. A reduced commute reduces stress and frees an extra hour or two during the day.”

When it comes to HR extending health and wellbeing programs to remote workers, he says communication is key: “Just because staff are working remotely doesn’t mean they are out of mind. The same health and wellbeing initiatives should apply no matter where the member of staff is based.
