VW poaches former Apple executive

A former Mercedes executive and Apple Software Engineer has agreed terms with Volkswagen (VW) to lead a new technology-based department.

Johann Jungwirth was approached by VW, who then announced that he will lead the company’s “digitisation strategy department.” However, there has been little clarification of what this role entails.

This secrecy is nothing new to Jungwirth, who was hired by Apple as Director of “Mac Systems Engineering” whilst simultaneously being appointed to lead their mysterious “Special Projects Group.”

In a press release issued today, VW acknowledges both of Jungwirth’s former roles, saying: “Jungwirth was named Director, Mac Systems Engineering at Apple in Cupertino, CA (USA), in 2014.
