Two managers were sentenced in court yesterday after employing staff who weren’t eligible to work in the UK.
Nail bar bosses, Thu Kim Ho and Hanh Minh Tran were both sentenced at Reading Crown Court to 100 hours unpaid work and 12 weeks in prison, which is suspended for two years.
Ho was the manager of American Nails while Tran was the manager of The Nail Lounge. The illegal employment occurred between 25th September 2014 and 18th March 2015.
Detective Sergeant James Woodcock of Force CID in Berkshire was the investigating officer. He said: “Following a detailed investigation into the operations of nail bars in Reading, we are pleased these convictions will protect the vulnerable workers and the wider Vietnamese community.
