What do you think is the key to being a successful Head of Reward?  

I think you have to be resilient and persevere through challenging times, and use a pragmatic approach that suits all your internal customers. Talking to the staff that are providing services directly, and getting their feedback, keeps you grounded. Lastly, take a step back every now and then to take in the bigger picture.
