Adding a splash of colour to your work wardrobe could be the key to landing that promotion, according to a recent study.
The survey, conducted by phone case firm Case Station, uncovered that one in five 18 to 34 year olds credit wearing bright outfits with getting a promotion. A further 20% of 25 to 34 year olds argue that their clothing helped the, secure a pay rise.
The reasoning behind this, according to leading experts, is embedded within our psyches. Wearing bright colours makes us happier as well as exerting a sense of confidence and self-belief.
Sir Cary Cooper, a Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at Manchester Business School, explained in a an interview with the Telegraph how the theory works: “Wearing colourful clothes is, I think, part of the package of a person - it says I'm a creative, I'm not prepared to just wear a suit. It will certainly get people to notice you.
