President Obama: 'Remove criminal history from initial job screenings'

President Barack Obama is going to “ban the box” of criminal history questions on some government job applications.

The 44th, and current, President of the United States wants to delay the question of criminal history until later on in the application process. In the UK, candidates do not have to discuss any criminal past they may have.

Speaking at Rutgers University on Monday, he said: “We’ve got to make sure that people who’ve paid their debt to society can earn a second chance.”

“We can’t have the criminal justice system carrying the entire load of society’s ills.”
