Netflix CEO: Why I take 6 weeks holiday

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has disclosed why he takes six weeks holiday. 

Discussing Netflix's long-standing policy of allowing employees unlimited annual leave, Hastings has reiterated that he hopes his staff take full advantage of the system, as he does himself. 

During an interview at the recent DealBook Conference in New York, Hastings explained how he believes holidays are essential to a healthy mind and body. He said: “I take a lot of vacation and I'm hoping that certainly sets an example.

"It is helpful. You often do your best thinking when you're off hiking in some mountain or something. You get a different perspective on things.”
