Qantas crew wear All Black jerseys after World Cup defeat

Following New Zealand’s 34-17 victory in the Rugby World Cup on Saturday, staff at Australian airline Qantas have had to wear the All Blacks rugby shirt to work after losing a bet with Air New Zealand. 

Both airlines have utilised the quadrennial tournament to engage with their workforce, and bring a playful element to their employer brand.

The airlines had made a bet over the result of the Rugby World Cup final. If Australia triumphed, employees at Air New Zealand would have to wear their jersey, but if the Wallabies lost, then Qantas staff would have to sport the All Blacks kit.

Qantas tweeted today: “A bet is a bet. Today we followed through with #AirlineWager and we accepted jerseys from [Air New Zealand].”
