85% of employees lie about their expenses

85% of employees have admitted to “bending the truth” when it comes to submitting and claiming their expenses, according to a new report.

The survey, which was conducted by online expenses management provider, webexpenses, interviewed over 1,000 UK workers across September 2015. The results showed that whilst over five-sixths of employees claimed they have been over-generous with their expenses reports, a further five per cent admitted to over-claiming every time they submit a claim.

One in ten workers stated they had considered submitting a fraudulent expenses claim but had never done so.

Despite confessions of their own dishonest behaviour, the research uncovered that a third of employees felt politicians were the worst at over-claiming on their expenses.
