A supermarket employee has been hailed a hero after sitting on a suspected shoplifter until the police arrived.
The shop assistant, who has so far remained nameless, worked at the Stroud branch of Co-op when he apprehended the youth after having previously witnessed the boy stealing wine from his store. When he confronted the 15 year-old teen, communications broke down and the elderly cashier took the law into his own hands.
Eyewitness Manfred Ruaz, explained his surprise at the sudden turn of events to The MailOnline, saying: “I walked in and saw what had happened. It was really weird. I walked through the doors and there was this big bloke sat on this kid.
“I have definitely never seen anything like it before. It was a shock.”
