Trouser cleaning and spinach parcels: PAs reveal their worst errands

'Essential,' 'organised,' and 'undervalued' are just a few of the words used by PA’s to describe how they feel about their role.

The National Survey of Personal Assistants 2015 has yielded some surprising results; including lifting the lid on some of the stranger tasks their bosses have had them carry out. One PA admitted that their employer had them take a 40-minute train ride to a specific Marks and Spencer’s to pick up their lunch. Despite the fact there were several other branches closer by.

A particularly bizarre request came from one executive, who asked his PA to wash the chocolate stains out of his trousers before drying them under a toilet hand drier, all whilst he hid in the cubicle. Other requests came in the form of being asked to send some spinach to Spain, and catching a fish from the bottom of the garden.

Another explained that her boss had her mail his wife’s contraception to them on their honeymoon, whilst one disgruntled PA was made to pick up his wife and children from the airport on a Saturday.
