#MoreWomen video shows near-absence of women in any industry

With gender equality still not on an even keel in the workplace, one video has shown that there is a need for ‘#morewomen’ at the top.

This showcasing of scarce diversity will only strengthen the calls for quotas. Dr Sam Collins has previously spoke to Executive Grapevine on the issue: “I never used to like the idea of quotas, meritocracy, positive discrimination and all that. But how can there be a meritocracy when they are so few women at the top? There has to be unconscious bias or sexism still in the ranks.” Earlier this year, a report by Catalyst confirmed that quotas work. 

Taking a collection of images from places such as the House of Commons, University Challenge, and the 2009 G20 meeting in London amongst others, the men are photoshopped out to show how few women are at the top. The video is part of Elle’s #ELLEFeminism campaign.
