Twitter’s UK employees collected £14million in shares between them last year.
The award dates back to 2007 due to commitments revolving around when Tweetdeck (a company that Twitter UK acquired four years ago) was founded.
A source, speaking to the Evening Standard, said it would not be accurate to say that staff will receive more than £100,000 each, because the figure is calculated for accounting purposes and is based on the share price when employees join the company.
The value of the shares that they eventually receive can vary, depending on Twitter’s stock price when the award bears fruit.
