Business must invest in employee cancer checks to save lives and money

Businesses could save £1.66 for every pound they invest in offering cancer checks to staff, new research has suggested.

The Cancer Impact Calculator by Check4Cancer shows that financial savings from an early detection will allow businesses to manage costs of staff and help those at risk at an earlier stage.

According to Cancer Research UK, nearly half of the UK population are expected to suffer from the disease at a point in their lives. Over 100,000 employees in the UK are diagnosed with it each year and the NHS claim that 13,000 men and women die each year due to work-related cancer.

The research showed that a risk of cancer is common amongst people of working age. The report explained how workplace absences and long term treatments are costing businesses a lot of money.
