Women studying engineering and business must demand bigger salaries in order to close the gender payment gap.
That is according to the Global Cost of Talent report from Universum. The Swedish employer branding firm has looked at what engineering and business students expect to be paid in 50 countries worldwide.
The results reveal that the gender pay gap is bigger in countries where business students expect to be paid more. However, it is not necessarily the same in the countries where engineering students expected to be paid more. Only five out of ten countries where engineering students expected to be paid the most showed similar trends.
Globally, women earn about 77% of what men do, according to the report. It said that it will take 70 years before women are paid the same as men if this trend continues.
