With the number of new recruits at an all-time low, the British Army are set to launch a huge recruitment drive.
81% of posts were filled for the year 2014/2015. The figure for the previous year was 95%.
Graduate recruitment for the army has decreased by 27% since 2005. Senior figures are also concerned about the lack of knowledge around the army’s recruiting; as it stands, 46% of 14 to 24 year olds are unaware that the army is currently looking for candidates.
Reasons attributed to the decline are a lack of knowledge that there are no skilled employment opportunities, and a belief that officers come from privileged backgrounds.
