Government tech job vacancy pays more than PM's salary

A government department is advertising a tech job that pays more than the Prime Minister’s salary.

The unnamed unit is offering £1,000 a day for an IT Director to run their cloud operations, according to The Memo. 

Posted on JobServe, the advert states it is looking for a highly motivated and skilled applicant who can manage changes to the software. The employee would in return, be receiving double the PM’s salary.

However, the healthy daily wage is apparently far from unusual in the IT jobs market. Melina Jacovou is the CEO and Founder at digital recruiter Propel London. She explains: “It’s not shocking. It’s about right, we are putting people in on £800 a day, and at a government level that’s normal. They might even be slightly underpaying.
