Former VP claims he was fired for whistleblowing

An executive at Battery Park City Authority claims that he was fired for whistleblowing on his former employers.

Kirk Swanson previously held the position of Vice President and Chief Contracts Officer at the state agency in New York. However he alleges that he was let go after raising concerns over the bids in the company.

Swanson’s lawsuit stated that he “discovered high-level BPCA employees were making false statements in an effort to bypass the BPCA’s contract approval process.” Swanson explained how he sent an email to New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office outlining the possible wrongdoings in May 2014.

Jason Solotaroff, Swanson’s lawyer, claims that the events are linked, saying: “It was Mr. Swanson’s job to ensure that the BPCA followed anti-corruption guidelines. It’s outrageous he was terminated for doing just that.”
