6% of UK workers take naps in meetings

Almost half of UK workers spend time every week in disorganised and unproductive metings, according to a recent YouGov study.

The study commissioned by outsourcing partner Arvato UK, outlines the key reasons for this.

From IT issues and boredom, to lack of organisation, the statistics show that 33% of workers confess to checking personal emails, social media, or sending personal text messages during meetings. Others find they struggle to the extent that they fall asleep, with six per cent admitting to taking naps.

Those in London appear to be most vulnerable to these distractions, with men more likely than women. The research shows that Londoners are over 50% more likely to be subject to distractions, compared to the North. It also shows that men are almost twice as likely to send text messages than their female counterparts.
