9 in 10 UK workers have gone into work when ill

The UK is struggling with huge levels of presenteeism, with 89% of staff admitting they have come to work un well.

That’s according to Canada Life Group Insurance who found that one in three (32%) will attend as their workload is too great to take time off.

21% are concerned about the financial implications of taking time off whilst 13% do not feel confident enough in their job security.

Paul Avis, Marketing Director of Canada Life Group, comments:“Presenteeism shows no sign of letting up in the UK workforce, suggesting employers need to do more to promote health and wellbeing in their organisation. Not only would this be beneficial to the individual employees’ welfare, it would also benefit the business as a whole in the long run by improving productivity and preventing the spread of illness among co-workers.
