Government urges businesses to hire ex-criminals and the homeless

Hiring people from disabled groups is said to secure the future for British businesses, according to Employment Minister Priti Patel.

A recent YouGov survey showed that business leaders have said they want to help build a fairer society but only a few have taken action.

As a result, the minister has asked employers to make a change after the recent study that found the vast majority ready to take on staff from disadvantaged backgrounds. Six out of ten companies said that they would be happy to employ a homeless person, and seven out of ten said they would do the same with an ex-offender.

Supporting this new approach are charities like Crisis, which support people to ensure they have the right talent and skills to be hired. Aiding those who have suffered, they put them in to programmes to develop their knowledge further.
