Today, Queen Elizabeth II will become Britain’s longest-reigning monarch in history, surpassing her Great-Great-Grandmother Queen Victoria.
As of 17:30 GMT, she will have reined for 63 years and seven months; or 23,226 days, 16 hours, and 30 minutes. The precise moment when she will surpass Queen Victoria’s record is unknown, due to the uncertainty surrounding the time that her father, King George VI, passed away on 6th February 1952.
Her reign has seen 12 Prime Minsters - two more than Queen Victoria.
The Queen will spend the day on official duties in Scotland. A Spokesman for Buckingham Palace says: “It’s business as usual. She’s not celebrating at all.”
