Tesco’s former music streaming service Blinkbox owes £10million to staff after failing to honour an agreement.
Blinkbox was sold to Guvera by CEO Dave Lewis as he attempted to streamline the business. Lewis agreed to sell the company with a £1million reduction, under the condition that staff would get an improved pay-out if the business proved unsuccessful.
At the time, Lewis insisted that Tesco was “facing the reality of the situation,” and was “seeing the benefits of listening to our customers.”
Blinkbox then went into administration in June. They did not stick to their side of the deal, and 100 staff were not remunerated properly. Administrators at accountancy company Smith & Williamson said staff are still owed £10million.
