What do you think is the key to being a successful in your role?
Adding value to the organisation and understanding the business; the two go hand in hand. Too many HR professionals know their own area of expertise but don’t understand the business in which this operates.
Over the years I have taken on L&D and then non-traditional HR functions like risk, corporate governance and, most recently, property and the company secretary role which now sits within HR. This has enabled me, and required me, to have a much broader understanding of the business and, consequently, I think I can add greater value at our Executive and Board meetings.
