Bosses hiring better cars to boost professional image

Company bosses are willing to spend more than £100 on car hire in order to boost their professional image, according to research by RAC Business.

The research showed that when attending a business meeting, more than half of bosses (52%) have temporarily upgraded their vehicle.

Carried out amongst 1,000 small businesses, the study found men (60%) more likely than women (44%) to hire a car. Nationally, the average spent by company bosses on short-term car rental is £102 per hire. With long-term leasing being a possibility, it was less preferable with approximately one in four (24%) considering it.

Speaking exclusively to HR Grapevine, she commented: “Many ‘grey fleet’ drivers have come unstuck when using their personal vehicle for work by forgetting to renew insurance policies or having out of date tax discs in the past when they were required.”
