Ashley Madison CEO Noel Biderman has stepped down from the company.
The Canadian founded Ashley Madison in 2001, with the firm growing to become one of the largest and most prominent providers of extramarital services in the world.
In July, hackers named Impact Team hacked into the website and released information about its users into the public domain. The leak has already been linked by the police to multiple blackmail attempts and two suicides. Biderman was also found to have been cheating on his wife. He told New York Daily News in 2014 that he had never committed adultery.
A statement from the company was released statingt: “Effective today [28th August 2015], Noel Biderman, in mutual agreement with the company, is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Avid Life Media Inc (ALM) and is no longer with the company. Until the appointment of a new CEO, the company will be led by the existing senior management team.
