Qatar Airways 'shamed' into diluting controversial staff pregnancy rules

Qatar Airways has relaxed its rules on female staff getting pregnant or married in the first five years of their employment.

The changes have been eased in over the past six months. Staff who become pregnant will now be offered temporary ground jobs. Employees can now also get married after informing the company.

Paddy Crumlin, President of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITWF), said in a statement: “Qatar Airways has been shamed into action, and that's a tremendous advance.

“No amount of hiding behind ‘Best Airline’ awards has kept the truth about how staff are treated from emerging.”
