Recruiters must get creative finding candidates, as firms focus on retaining staff

British recruiters need to become more creative at finding candidates as companies are currently more interested in retaining staff than attracting new talent.

A new report reveals that recruiters have less money to compete with in the current candidate led market. Adzuna published the report. The UK Job Market Report shows that the average advertised salaries in Great Britain have gone down by 1.1% in one year. The average advertised salary decreased from £33,873 in July 2014 to £33,505 in July 2015.

Becky Harkins is a PR Specialist at Adzuna and the author of the report. She tells Recruitment Grapevine: “This is the first time that the average advertised salary has been falling year-on-year. Previously we have seen the salaries fall month-on-month, but year-on-year they have still been improving.

“One of the reasons to why we think it is happening is because of a flood of lower paid or part-time roles coming onto the market. That is pulling the average advertised salaries down.”
