What do you think is the key to being a successful Head of HR?

I've been described by previous stakeholders I've worked with as not really what they had expected  – I've never quite been sure how to take that, but was assured it was meant as a compliment!

I’m not a huge one for convoluted HR models or protracted theory, but instead prefer to build my relationships (upon which much of your success is based) around some basic principles.
