As graduates enter the employment market, new research reveals that the average retiree has worked for six companies, according to Monster.co.uk.
The study discovered that getting too stressed (20%), working long hours (14%) and not having the ambition and confidence to move up the career ladder (13%), were the three biggest regrets by retirees.
Other regrets included staying in a job that wasn’t right (13%) and not retiring earlier (8%). 36% of respondents said they recommend looking for a new job every three to four years.
The research suggested that the monetary element did not contribute as a source of career pride. Only 2% said high salary mattered, whilst 44% said they were most proud being respected within their workplace.
