J.Crew Creative Director: 'Don't email me if you want a job'

If you want to get a job at J.Crew, you should not be emailing your job application through.

In an interview with Glamour, Jenna Lyons, Group President and Executive Creative Director of J.Crew, said she won’t take you seriously if you email over your job application.

"Send me some of your work or a nice letter, and tell me why you're interested in working here. Don't send me an email.... You have to be old-school. Be professional," she says.

The thought process behind this distinctive application process can be found in advice she gave later in the interview. She says employees should make themselves “indispensable” if they wish to get promoted. It isn’t enough to just get by.
