Grandparents in Britain are revealed to be the most hardworking elders in the world, according to a new report. So much so, in fact, that they should be awarded upwards of £22,000 for their time.
The study, conducted by furniture manufacturer HSL Chairs, has found that the UK is home to a nation of hardworking over 50s, with 66% of grandparents spending a significant amount of time looking after their grandchildren over the school holidays.
The survey questioned over 1,000 grandparents, with 85% of respondents admitting that they look after the children out of their love and refuse to take any pay for their time. Loose Women Panellist and star of Birds of a Feather, Linda Robson knows all too well the duties of a doting grandmother, commenting: “I honestly think that grandparents are invaluable.
“I couldn't have worked without my mum looking after my children when they were little, and I treasure my time with my granddaughter Lila. We have the best time together and have a special bond that will always be there. I love our time together."
